Do you guys have examples of vegan-friendly restaurants? eg. do enough exist for a category to be of use?

220 votes and still impossible? This is ridiculous. I don't want to make ultraspecial orders anymore.
Any restaurant can claim to be vegetarian, but still having nothing to eat for vegans.

Most of the Chinese places have vegan dishes if they have tofu and they don't use any animal products in their sauce for example. Here's a list from Vegaaniliitto http://www.vegaaniliitto.fi/ravintolat.html and here's a list from Animalia: http://animalia.fi/valinta/ravintolat

There are blogs that write about the vegan restaurants in Finnish, like Hyvä kurkku http://sylvi.fi/arkisto/kolumnit/hyva-kurkku/

I've been planning a blog about the vegan restaurants in Helsinki in English also with group of people, so yes, there are restaurants and more can be discovered.

Some restaurants in Helsinki that I know to have vegan dishes:

        http://eat.fi/helsinki/tuk-tuk
        http://eat.fi/en/helsinki/new-bamboo-center
        http://eat.fi/en/helsinki/vegemesta-roba
        http://eat.fi/en/helsinki/vegemesta

kala: You got it so right - vegetarian-friendly doesn't necessarily mean that vegans have anything to eat. Often the vegetarian food is "an omelet with cream and cheese" -kind of ****.

A critical addition to any serious food site.

I'd suspect that this could be easily and somewhat reliably be solved by adding some sort of tagging system. Even though there's always going to be some junk tags, they're going to be easy to spot when you have weights on tags. So when the user is typing a tag, you would autocomplete on the tag.

Yup, vegan diet is quite restricting and when choosing a restaurant it would be useful to see if a place has a selection of vegan (or easily veganized) dishes without having to go through the menu first.

Definitely needed. Many restaurants that do serve vegetarian food will stuff their offerings with incredible amount of cheese and cream (and some even refuse to make the dishes without them or with less of them), so vegetarian-friendly doesn't really mean anything to us who prefer no animal products kinda diet.
